So we all know that the five beasts had their soul jams corrupted by their own power and that the witches purified the soul jam, but can they still corrupt cookies? Just some theories and speculation.

The most prominent example I can think of is with Dark Cacao and the climax of episode 14. When Pomegranate tries to use her magic to take control of Dark Cacao, he resists and his soul jam turns him berserk. 

I think it's interesting that the soul jam is causing Dark Cacao to turn into a monster, it shows that it is a powerful substance that can possible control the use just as much as the user controls it.

Another example, although implied, was with Smoked Cheese and Golden Cheese’s soul jam. When Smoked Cheese tries to use the soul jam, it seems to reject him.

Afterwards when the soul jam causes the Golden City to merge with the real world, Smoked Cheese acts strange, wanting to destroy everything. 

This is really uncharacteristic of him, as he’s a careful planner and genuinely trying to protect the kingdom from war in comparison to Golden Cheese, who wanted to stay isolated. He also speaks in a strange manner, almost as if he is possessed. You could chalk it up to Smoked Cheese breaking after his plans failed, but I don’t think that is the case. My theory is that the soul jam may have affected his mind and caused him to act so strange.

And with the Theater of Lies story, we see Shadow Milk directly using Pure Vanilla's soul jam trying to control him. I know it's not just the soul jam that is affecting Pure Vanilla, but that fact the the soul jam is being used as a vessel to control Pure Vanilla is interesting.

So in summary, Dark Cacao's (and to a lesser extent Golden Cheese's and Pure Vanilla's) soul jam might have the power to corrupt the user, just as it had corrupted the five beasts before them.

I feel like more people need to explore the inherent nature of the soul jams in full. Because here's the thing: they weren't born with it. By all known logic and all previous flashbacks we've seen, the most logical conclusion we can come to is that the witches couldn't just bake a new batch of cookies with the soul jams without risking the exact same problem as the virtues, which is likely why the soul jams aren't physically embedded in the cookies but rather attached to their armour and clothes and stuff, since the witches would've "gifted" them once they proved worthy.

Imagine how viscerally terrifying that is, to be a teenager, young adult at most, who just got personally hand-picked by the eldritch beings you consider gods and then to be suddenly granted a piece of immense, impossible power that is now forcefully and painfully bound to your soul and memories, and then be told that you are meant to be a saviour, destined to save your people. They didn't have a choice. They didn't even get a thank you. What they got was an impossible situation where they were forced to go and risk their lives to, at best, end up isolated and lonely as they are held up to an impossible standard and have their trauma glorified and worshiped. At worst, they end up dead and have their entire legacy and death dragged through the mud, rewritten, turned into a martyr and inevitably forgotten. Can they even die of natural causes anymore? Or are they now borderline demigods in their own right, incapable of something as fundamental as natural death? How cruel is that, to be forced to continue existing in the dust and ashes of your own life?

On some scenes with Ancients , I noted something..

THEIR SOUL JAMS LITERALLY GIVING THEIR ANCIENT CLOTHES!

I mean.. This happened not to only Hollyberry, but also other did this too..

And.. after all this scenes, I imagined, how Ancients are giving their soul jams to Gingerbrave, Wildberry and Crunchy Chip under their protection. And after that they're transforming to their "present" outfits...

Ancient beasts CRK theory

In episode 2 of Beast Yeast, during Shadow Milk’s little plays he says that Dark Enchantress wishes to free the five beasts. To do this she says she’ll provide the five ancient beasts five cookie bodies. Though we have to take everything he says with salt, Pure Vanilla does say there is always some truth to it.

so five cookie bodies? Immediately you might think the ancient heroes bodies but Dark Enchantress never went to the kingdoms previously for the ancient cookies, she went for soul jam.

so what five cookies could she possibly sacrifice? I mean it’s not like she has five “loyal” cookies by her side.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Dark Enchantress Cookie is sacrificing the Cookies of Darkness. I have a bit of a theory of who should become who.

POMEGRANATE COOKIE < MYSTIC FLOUR COOKIE

Pomegranate Cookie, through all the episodes, is shown to care only for Dark Enchantress Cookie. Little empathy for anyone except the darkness. Apathy, Mystic Flour Cookie’s element, is characterized as little emotion or empathy towards others.

RED VELVET COOKIE < SLIENT SALT COOKIE

Red Velvet, either then non-canon events, has almost never shown up with the rest of the Cookies of Darkness. He works silent in the shadows with little company. Slience, Salt Cookie’s element.

POISON MUSHROOM COOKIE < ETERNAL SUGAR COOKIE

There is literally a joke in the fandom that this kid is high all the time. They can easily be seen as lazy or sloth, like Eternal Sugar’s element. Plus they seem pretty happy.

AFFOGATO COOKIE < SHADOW MILK COOKIE

Affogato Cookie is introduced gaslighting a village girl, lying about Caramel Arrow to banish her, and manipulating Dark Cacao as his right hand the entire time. If that doesn’t scream deceit I don’t know what does. Though I doubt he or Licorice would want to be involved with this dealing of cookies at all.

LICORICE COOKIE < BURNING SPICE COOKIE

I don’t exactly know where I could fit this silly guy. He doesn’t match any of the elements perfectly like the other characters. He is shown to take a liking to dark and destructive magic so I put him with the cookie of destruction but I can see him not being so.

So these were the original traits of the Soul Jams, as well as who they corresponded to, and then what they turned into when they became Beasts

I’m gonna be honest, outside of Knowledge and Deceit, I’m not entirely sure how those second ones are vices of the original virtues. Like, I feel like Volition and Sloth, as well as Happiness and Apathy would make more sense, right? At least if I have their definitions down right. And I’m not sure how Silence is the corruption of Solidarity. But ah well

And so I was wrong about how the Soul Jams work and how they change traits; it isn’t that they change traits depending on the worthy user who now wields it, rather the traits we see now are the purified part of the original traits. But it said nothing about the color change

So my guess is that if they were to change to a new wielder, the trait would stay the same, but the color might change

And so this tells us that the Ancients earned their Soul Jams through whatever means, likely individually, and I assume they got them soon before they became rulers of their respective kingdoms/when their nation was founded

Still doesn’t say when they got their Soul Jams in relation to if they had already met or not, but ah well. Based on what information I can gather though, Pure Vanilla and White Lily at least likely already knew each other back from their days in the Blueberry Magic Academy, though I can’t say whether they knew the other three by that point or not

So several days ago I noticed this small detail about Dark Cacao's outfits and the fact that Soul Jams do materialize Ancient Heroes armors/outfits

About Dark Cacao. Look closely at these screenshots. Before and after receiving Soul Jam Something on them remain the same in Dark Cacao's clothes.

Can you see it? If not, here's another hint, look closely.

The answer: crown. The crown isn't the part of Dark Cacao's armor from Soul Jam. Because on screenshots from his gacha animation we can clearly see that he's indeed wearing his usual armor, but not crown.

Why I think like that? Well, bc he has his crown BEFORE taking Soul Jam, but has it AFTER. And I think it's because Cacao doesn't see himself as a king, more of a warrior.

I like to speculate that he never wanted/intended to be the king - all he wanted is to protect people of lands he belonged to. I guess it was people themselves who coronated him, due to his victory over two dragons, and he just accepted it.

But why it stays after receiving Soul Jam? Because as we saw with Pure Vanilla and Hollyberry-

There's nothing left of previous clothes. But why the crown remains?

I think it's because how serious Cacao takes his responsibilities as king. He cares about his people. He knows that he is in charge of so many lives.

Although, he doesn't really enjoy being a king - he says himself that this burden is heavy, and in video of "Dark Cacao Cookie's Sorrow" he admits how heavy crown is.

So they didn’t call it “awakened ancient” but called its ancient + and has the same promotion system like the beast do
